USPS Forms to Go Fully Digital

Source: United States Postal Service, December 5, 2023

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced a significant transition in its operational procedures, moving towards a fully digital system by February 2024. This transformative shift entails discontinuing the acceptance of paper mail acceptance forms, specifically Forms 3600 and 3602. Instead, the USPS is mandating that all mail acceptance processes be conducted digitally through designated electronic formats.

The move towards a 100% digital approach aims to streamline operations, increase efficiency, reduce manual handling, and enhance accuracy in managing mail data. This initiative necessitates the utilization of specific digital formats for mail acceptance, including mail.dat, mail xml, postal wizard, or the small business tool provided by the USPS.

The postal wizard and small business tool are software solutions offered by the USPS, designed to assist businesses and mailers in preparing and submitting mailing documentation digitally. These tools facilitate the creation of mailing statements and the submission of required information in compliance with USPS regulations.
